Dental Care for Every Stage of Life

A healthy smile looks different at 3 than it does at 33 or 73 — and our care grows right along with you.

For Little Smiles (Ages 3+)

We begin seeing children at age 3, when those first checkups set the tone for a lifetime of healthy habits. Our team specializes in making young patients feel safe, comfortable, and even excited about the dentist. Early visits include:

  • Gentle exams and “happy visits” to build trust and confidence
  • Kid-friendly cleanings and cavity checks
  • Fluoride treatments to strengthen growing teeth
  • Dental sealants to protect cavity-prone molars
  • Education on brushing, flossing, and habits like thumb-sucking
  • Monitoring of growth, development, and incoming permanent teeth

For Teens

The teenage years bring big changes — and big smiles. We help teens stay on track with routine cleanings, cavity prevention, wisdom tooth monitoring, and Invisalign®, the clear alternative to metal braces for kids, teens, and adults.

For Adults

Life gets busy, but your smile shouldn’t fall to the bottom of the list. Our doctors practice a full scope of dentistry for adults, from routine cleanings and fillings to crownsbridgesroot canalsteeth whitening, and veneers — everything you need to keep your smile healthy and looking its best.

For Seniors

Healthy teeth are for life. We help older adults manage the unique challenges that come with age — dry mouth, worn teeth, gum recession, and tooth replacement options including denturespartials, and dental implants.

Your Child’s First Visit: What to Expect

We know a first dental visit can feel like a big deal — for kids and parents! Our goal is to keep it positive, pressure-free, and fun. Here’s what a typical first visit at age 3 looks like:

  1. A warm welcome. We introduce your child to our team and let them explore the “big chair” at their own pace.
  1. A gentle look around. The dentist counts teeth, checks gums, and looks at how your child’s smile is developing.
  1. A gentle cleaning and fluoride, if your child is comfortable.
  1. Tips for home. We’ll show you (and your little one) the best ways to brush and floss growing teeth and answer all your questions.

Most importantly, your child leaves with a smile — and maybe a prize from the treasure box.

Frequently Asked Questions About Family Dentistry

At what age do you start seeing children?

We welcome young patients starting at age 3. This is a wonderful age to begin regular dental visits — most children have all 20 baby teeth by then, and early checkups help build comfort with the dentist while catching any concerns early.

How often should my family visit the dentist?

For most patients — kids and adults alike — we recommend a checkup and professional cleaning every six months. Some patients with gum disease or a higher risk of cavities may benefit from more frequent visits, and we’ll tailor a schedule for each family member.

Can you really see my whole family in one visit?

Yes! One of the biggest benefits of a family dental practice is convenience. Our scheduling team is happy to arrange back-to-back or same-day appointments so you can take care of everyone’s smiles in a single trip to our Winder office.

Do baby teeth really matter if they’re going to fall out anyway?

Absolutely. Baby teeth hold space for permanent teeth, help with speech development, and allow children to chew properly. Untreated cavities in baby teeth can cause pain and infection and even affect the adult teeth developing underneath.

What if my child (or I) get nervous at the dentist?

You’re in good company — dental anxiety is very common at every age. Our team is known for its gentle, patient approach, and many of our most loyal patients are former “scaredy cats.” We move at your pace, explain everything in a friendly way, and offer sedation options for patients who need extra help relaxing.

Do you accept dental insurance?

We work with many dental insurance plans, and our administrative staff is ready to help you understand your benefits and our financial policy before treatment. We also offer Sunbit, which lets you split your bill into monthly payments for up to 72 months.

What services do you offer beyond cleanings?

Dr. Benner and Dr. Townsend practice a full scope of dentistry, including fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, sealants, fluoride treatments, teeth whitening, veneers, Invisalign®, extractions, dentures, and dental implants — all in one convenient location.
